Focus and Scope
Autonomy welcomes papers and speculative opinion concerning autism and the autistic "spectrum" in it's broadest aspects.
These may include but shall not be confined to:
- The position of autistic people within society,
- scientific and medical papers concerning the neurobiology and genetics of autism,
- research into attention, perception and cognition,
- the political and economic situation as it affects autistic individual,
- the education of autistic people,
- the history and culture of autistic people, including those social and political institutions that have defined the discourse of autism,
- book, film, and academic literature reviews,
- occasional literature and poetry.

Peer Review Process
We will endeavour to ensure that submissions are reviewed by at least two peers, one of whom has some expertise in the subject matter of the material being submitted.
We will also ensure that all submissions are reviewed by an editor or reviewer who either self identifies as or has been diagnosed as being autistic or on the autistic "spectrum"
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
